CHICANO/CHICANA SERIES

After the provoked attack of Zachary Taylor of Matamoros, Mexico and the subsequent war with Mexico and takeover of the Mexican Texas, many of the Mexican citizens that decided to stay (now under an alien culture and language) became Mexican Americans. Because of the religious and cultural racism present, those that remained became the victims, as new citizens of great injustices as hangings, theft, fraud and exploitation became commonplace. Thus, the rebel and the resistance movements are born out of necessity. By the mid sixties, the name of Chicano or Chicana is used by those who dare to question injustice, exploitation or manipulation. This series is also about the unique culture of the Spanish Speaking Mexican American, from Bi-lingualism, dialects and Art to the numerous literary contributions.
